1. The Archiepiscopal Cathedral of the Lower Danube - St. Andrew, whose first stone was laid on 27 April 1906 by Prince Ferdinand and Queen Maria, together with the then Bishop Pimen Georgescu and the construction lasted until 1917, the plans the architects Petre Antonescu and Stephen Burcuş made the building. The building was designed with a dome without aisles.
2. The fortified monastery of the Holy Virgin is the oldest building in Galati, it was consecrated as a place of worship in September 1647 during the reign of Vasile Lupu. The church built with a typical Romanian architecture, has some specific elements such as the bell tower with battlements, from where you can see the Danube valley, and in the past, if necessary, it became a defensive fortification. The tower, consisting of two floors, has two bastions. The second floor was equipped with windows and crenellated walls. Another ancient defense of the church is the reinforced bridge composed of two parts, one above the central nave and the second above the altar. The bridge is equipped with 28 battlements. The church was rebuilt and restored in 1829 and, in 1859. It did a restoration and then between 1953 and 1957, the church was turned into a museum. In the period between 1991 and 1994, the church was restored. They say that there is a secret tunnel that leads from the basement of the church to the banks of the Danube which in the past served to escape from enemy attacks.
3. The Greek church, the first stone of which was laid on August 6, 1866. In the nave it has a marble plaque with the names of the founders and two marble slabs with the names of the founders and principal benefactors. The church has two bell towers on the west side. One of the major paintings found there was done by Papadopoulos of Adrianople. On the iconostasis there are large icons representing the Holy Virgin Mary with the Child, the Resurrection, San Gerasimos, Santa Sofia, San Gregorio and San Basilio Magno. The church contains eight stained glass windows painted with the depiction of the holy apostles Peter, Andrew, Mark, Thomas, Bartholomew and Luke on the north side and Paul Simon, Giovanni, Giacomo, Filippo, on the south side.
4. St. Paraskeva Cathedral is located in the southern part of the city. In the courtyard there is also the Cătuşa Cemetery. Construction is completed, but the interior layout is not yet finished, a part of the Duomo's basement will serve as a mortuary chapel. The official opening of the interior should take place in 2012.
5. The Mavromol Church (Mavromol Church) is a former monastery dedicated to the Mavromol Assumption and was built in 1669 by Gheorghe Duca and his son, rebuilt between 1700 and 1703. Contains precious murals, restored between 1973 and 1975 During the revolution of 1821 the church was set on fire by the Turks. The current building dates back to the years between 1858 and 1861, and respects the original plan. The church has a stunning carved wooden icon dedicated to the Virgin Mary, and has a valuable iconostasis of the Saint Sava Church of the Bucharest Monastery. The entrance on the south side is characterized by an icon on the portal and heraldic symbols. During communism, the land next to it, which was a cemetery, was unduly expropriated from the church.
6. The church of San Spiridione was built in 1817. It has three towers, the dome of the nave is supported by cross arches. The most precious elements of the church are the iconostases and icons.
7. The Synagogue is next to the Galati History Museum on Domnească road, and is the only remaining synagogue in Galati.
8. The Artisans Temple was built in 1896 on the site of an old synagogue from 1806.
9. The Vovidenia church is a historical and architectural monument built in 1790. It was completely burned and destroyed in 1821, finishing the restoration in 1851. Above the central nave stands a dome supported by transverse arches in the traditional Moldavian style.
10. The Roman Catholic church was built in 1844 and enlarged in 1873. Among the objects of artistic value are the high altar, in colored marble, the painting of St. John the Baptist preaching, the statue of the Most Holy Heart of Jesus Christ, the statues of the Pietà and of San Francesco d'Assisi.

Turning to the visit of gardens and parks, let's start by going to see, the Mihai Eminescu municipal park, designed in 1869, this park preserves some contemporary trees of Mihai Eminescu who used to go to the park very often especially in old age. In the park there is a small lake and the park is very visited for the presence of the statue of Eminescu.
12. The public gardens are located near the student complex and are a particularly beautiful area for rest and recreation. Also they are a great viewpoint of Lake Brates, the main train station and the train depot.
13. The state railway park is located near the railway tunnel. The botanical garden including the Museum of Natural Sciences dominates the left bank of the Danube. 14. The Garboavele Forest Zoo is located at the northern exit of the city and is included in the natural science museum complex. In the zoo you can see various exotic species. 15. The lake of hunters is located in the north-eastern area of Galati, on an area of 28 hectares. It includes an 11-hectare natural lake and an acacia forest.
16. The Danube Leisure Complex is located outside the city, on the road to Braila, and has three swimming pools, houses, campsites and a restaurant. On one portion of the complex there is a club which is equipped with a swimming pool, restaurant, bar and cafe. The riverside is one of the key areas of Galati. Sports competitions and musical concerts take place frequently. It offers great potential for relaxation and recreation in green areas. There are many original ancient iron monuments. On the shore below the cliffs there are many boats that have been converted into restaurants.

18. The Danube Waves Beach is located in the south-west of the city, has large swimming pools, including three for children, each with a slide. There is a beach and restaurants.
19. The Brates private beach is located on the left bank of Lake Brates and has very clean sand.

Among the other monuments, buildings and places to visit there is the Roman camp of Tirighina-Barbosi, the excavations in the Roman castellum of Barbosi in the years between 1959 and 1962, have brought to light the remains of Tirighina a fortress dacian. Casa Robescu was built in the second half of the 19th century by the architect Ion Mincu. The building has a raised basement, two floors and two towers with a balcony on each floor. 26. Galati The village museum is located at the gates of the Garboavele forest and contains some typical huts originating from the lower Danube.
