ENGLAND

To reach Linate Airport from the Lambrate or Milano Centrale train station, you need to take the subway (cost of a single ride: 1.60 Euros) and get off at the Piazza San Babila stop (red line). From there walk for about 200 meters. in a southerly direction passing Largo Arturo Toscanini and find on the right the bus stop n. 73 which leaves every 15 minutes towards Linate Airport. The journey takes just under an hour. You can use the ATM ticket, previously used for the subway ride, which is valid for up to 90 minutes from the first validation. Remember to validate it even when you get on the bus.

Punctual as never before, my plane n. BA0569 of the British Airways Company in the direction of London Heathrow International Airport (United Kingdom), (price of the multi-leg ticket including taxes from Linate to St. Kitt and from Tobago to Malpensa with stopovers at London Heathrow and London Gatwick: Euro 820.04 ).

Punctual arrival at 19.55, at Terminal 5 of London Heathrow International Airport (United Kingdom). There is a time zone time compared to Italy.

In order to set foot in the United Kingdom, it is sufficient to have a valid identity card or passport. Once you arrive at the aforementioned airport border, just put your ID on the scanner, wait for a photograph to be taken and if everything is ok, the automatic doors that allow you to enter the United Kingdom will open.

The aforementioned airport consists of 5 terminals all connected by underground to central London which is about 30 km to the east. The metro ticket costs £ 6. The journey takes approximately 1 hour.

If from London Heathrow International Airport you want to reach the North Terminal of Gatwick Airport, located in Crawley, 60 km. approximately south of Central London, you can take the direct company National Express bus, which runs frequently. Tickets can also be booked online and costs £ 15. The journey takes just over an hour.

The cheapest solution for the connection between the 2 aforementioned airports is to take the underground (blue line Piccadilly) from London Heathrow International Airport to Earl's Court metro Station in Kensington and Chelsea (London) where you have to take the green line to Wimbledon and get off at the next stop called "West Brompton metro Station". The metro ticket costs £ 6. The journey takes approximately 1 hour.

From West Brompton metro Station, exit, turn left and walk approximately 200 meters. until you find the bus stop. Although not signposted, this is where the Easy Bus Company Minibus stops, which in about 1 hour takes you to the North Terminal of Gatwick Airport in Crawley (England).

Tickets can be booked online a few weeks in advance and costs £ 1.95. Up to £ 15 if purchased a few days in advance or on site.

I slept in the aforementioned cold airport.

At the North Terminal of Gatwick Airport in Crawley (England), there are incredibly no screens where flight times are marked.

To leave the UK you don't have to cross the border at the airport.

ST KITTS AND NEVIS

Punctual as never before leaves from the North Terminal of Gatwick Airport in Crawley (England) at 10.05 my plane n. BA2157 of the British Airways Company in the direction of Robert L Bradshaw Airport in Basseterre (St Kitts), (multi-route ticket price including taxes from Linate to St. Kitt and from Tobago to Malpensa with stopovers at London Heathrow and London Gatwick: Euro 820, 04).

Before arriving in St Kitts, the plane makes a stop of about 1 hour in Antigua to drop off passengers bound for that country.

I therefore arrive at 16.35, at Robert L Bradshaw Airport in Basseterre (St Kitts), located about 3 km north of the city. There are 5 hours of time zone, compared to Italy.

A visa is not required to enter St Kitts and Nevis for tourism purposes and for a period not exceeding 6 months. It is sufficient to be in possession of a passport, with at least 6 months of residual validity at the time of entry into the country.

It is necessary to fill out a form to be delivered to customs, part of which must be returned when leaving the country.

To change money at the airport, there is a bank that is often closed, but you can withdraw cash with an ATM or credit card.

The currency of St Kitt and Nevis is the East Caribbean Dollar (EC $), but American Dollars (USD) are accepted everywhere (Hotels, Buses, taxis, Shops, Restaurants, Supermarkets, Ferries, etc.), even if using the latter are considered with the following value 1 USD = 2.5 EC $ instead of the official rate which is 1 USD = 2.7 EC $.

In St Kitts and Nevis the official language is English.

In St Kitts and Nevis, driving is on the left and is driven by private minivans, which do not have writing on the windshield, from 6.00 to 19.00. The service is very limited on Sunday in St Kitts and even almost absent in Nevis. You pay the driver before getting off. The public bus service does not exist on both islands.

To hitchhike in St Kitts and Nevis and in all the Caribbean you have to lift your index finger.

In St Kitts I slept in the cheapest accommodation on the island, the 3 Fern Tree Bed and Breakfast, located in the village of Conaree, less than 2 km northeast of the International Airport, at a cost of 50 USD per night for a double including breakfast (booking via booking.com website). It can be reached either on foot or by taking one of the numerous minivans, heading north, which pass near the roundabout 200 meters away. approximately from the airport at a price of 1 USD or 2.5 EC $. You pay the driver before getting off.

From Conaree Village you can easily reach the historic center of Basseterre, the capital of St Kitts, taking, on the main road, one of the numerous minivans, coming from the east coast and heading south, at a price of 1 USD or 2.5 EC $. You pay the driver before getting off. The ride takes about 10 minutes. To return to Conaree Village from Basseterre, the minivan must be taken to Wellington Road, just north of the Victoria Monument, located at the intersection of Wellington Road and Cayon Street.

Basseterre can be easily explored on foot. On Sunday morning the city is deserted.

The ferry terminal for Nevis is located in Basseterre, in Bay, Road, near the Market, 200 mt. west of the National Museum.

From Monday to Thursday there are 6 ferries connecting St Kitts and Nevis from 6.00 in the morning until late afternoon. On Friday and Saturday the rides increase to 8. The cost of a single ticket is 25 EC $ or 10 USD. The ticket office opens 30 minutes before departure. The journey takes just under 1 hour.

In Nevis the ferry docks at the terminal located in the center of the capital Charlestown, which can be visited very well on foot. To move around the island, on the other hand, you can use private minivans at a cost that varies between EC $ 2.5 and EC $ 6, but not on Sunday when the service is almost absent and therefore you are forced to ask for a makeshift ride.

In St. Kitts to visit Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, located on the west coast of the island, you need to take a minivan to the west coast in front of the Basseterre ferry terminal and get off at the southern outskirts from Sandy Point Town, at the junction for Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park, priced at 3 USD or 7.5 EC $. You pay the driver before getting off. The ride takes about 30 minutes.

At this point there are three possibilities to reach the aforementioned fort: walk uphill for more than 2 km, wait for an unlikely taxi or ask someone for a ride.

Admission to Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park costs 10 USD or 255 EC $. The park is open every day from 9.30 to 17.30.

ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA

Punctual as never before leaves from Robert L Bradshaw Airport in Basseterre (St Kitts) at 08.35 my plane n. 527 of the LIAT Airline Company in the direction of Vc Bird Int'l Airport in Antigua, (ticket price including taxes: USD 123.75).

Free drinks and snacks are not served on the plane.

I therefore arrive at 09.05 am, at Vc Bird Int'l Airport in Antigua, located about 4 km east of St. John's, the capital of Antigua. There are 5 hours of time zone, compared to Italy.

A visa is not required to enter Antigua and Barbuda for tourism purposes and for a period not exceeding 90 days. It is sufficient to be in possession of a passport, with at least 6 months of residual validity at the time of entry into the country. Sometimes you will be asked for a return or onward flight ticket and a hotel reservation.

It is necessary to fill out a form to be delivered to customs, part of which must be returned when leaving the country.

There is no bank to change money at the airport, but you can withdraw cash with an ATM or credit card.

The currency of Antigua and Barbuda is the Eastern Caribbean Dollar (EC $), but American Dollars (USD) are accepted everywhere (Hotels, Buses, taxis, Shops, Restaurants, Supermarkets, Ferries, etc.), even if using this The latter are considered with the following value 1 USD = 2.5 EC $ instead of the official rate which is 1 USD = 2.7 EC $.

In Antigua and Barbuda, the official language is English.

In Antigua and Barbuda, driving is on the left and is driven by Minivans, which have written on the windshield containing the route number and the final destination, from 6.00 to 19.00. On the other hand, the service is absent in Barbuda where you travel only by taxi. You pay the driver before getting off.

In Antigua I slept in the cheapest accommodation on the island, the Media Luna Apartments Complex, located in Hatton New Exstension, on the western outskirts of the capital, about 2 km west of the center of the same, at a cost of 45 USD per night. an apartment consisting of 2 double bedrooms, a bathroom, living room and kitchen (booking via the booking.com website). To reach it by public transport it is necessary to walk for less than 1 km outside the airport, until you reach the main road and take the Minivan n. 42 direct to West Bus Station (4 EC $). From there take minivan n. 61 directed to Five Island Village and get off after about 2 km abundantly at Blue container Supermarket (2.5 EC $) and walk in the adjacent road for almost 1 km, until you find the complex on the right after a supermarket.

Antigua is a mountainous island and therefore the roads are often winding and challenging climbs are frequent and therefore for those who have it it is nice to ride a bicycle. To this end, Bike Plus rents mountain bikes for USD 20 per day. Mandatory security deposit to be left in cash of USD 225 only. The shop is open from Monday to Friday from 8.00 to 17.00. It is located in the southeastern suburb of St. John's, on Independencies Drive Street, not far from the hospital. For information, please call 2684622453/6050.

In Antigua the most important site to see is "Nelson's Dockyard", protected by Unesco and located in English Harbor, in the southern part of the island. It is open every day from 9am to 5pm. In theory you should pay 18 EC $, even though I arrived by bike and they allowed me to ride my bike for free even though I didn't understand why.

If you want to visit wild Barbuda, keep in mind that there are no scheduled ferries, but the Barbuda Express company offers transport with a fast Catamaran, which leaves from St John's ferry pier on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 9.00 and returns the same day leaving Barbuda at 16.00. On Sunday it leaves at 12.00 and always returns at 16.00. Tickets are purchased from one hour before the ride up to 5 minutes before. The cost for the return ticket is 85 USD or 225 EC $. The company also offers several tours in Barbuda, for example the one to the Frigate Bird Sanctuary costs 150 USD, including the catamaran trip described above. Payment can also be made in Euros. The journey takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes and depending on the sea conditions it can become very busy due to the waves.

In Barbuda the catamaran docks in the southwestern part of the island, where there is not even a structure to shelter, but there are taxis waiting to take you to Codrington, the capital of Barbuta, 5km further north. for the price of 20 EC $. From there, you can take water taxis to go to Palm Beach or Frigate Bird Sanctuary. For the rest it is difficult to move alone in this wild island unless you borrow a bicycle from one of the country. I opted for this second solution which cost me 10 USD.

In Barbuda there are a few kilometers of paved road. There are no roads on the east coast. You can only go as far as Two Foot Bay in the north - east or Coco Point in the south - east.

Back in Antigua, having the Flight at 6.00 in the morning, as there was no Minivan in service at that time, I had to take a private taxi which took me from my Hotel in St John's to Vc Bird Int'l Airport in Antigua, located approx. 4 km east of the capital for the price of 20 USD.

DOMINICA

Punctual as never before from Vc Bird Int'l Airport in Antigua at 06.00 my plane n. 581 of the LIAT Airline Company in the direction of Douglas-Charles Airport in Dominica, (ticket price including taxes: USD 86.75).

Free drinks and snacks are not served on the plane.

I therefore arrive at 06.40 am, at Douglas-Charles Airport in Dominica, located about 47 km north-east of Roseau, the capital of Dominica. There are 5 hours of time zone, compared to Italy.

A visa is not required to enter Dominica for tourism purposes and for a period not exceeding 90 days.

In Roseau, on the other hand, you can exchange money at an exchange office. I changed like this: 1 Euro = 2.7 EC $.

The currency of Dominica is the Eastern Caribbean Dollar (EC $), but American Dollars (USD) are accepted everywhere (Hotels, Buses, Taxis, Shops, Restaurants, Supermarkets, Ferries, etc.) American Dollars (USD), even if using the latter. these are considered with the following value 1 USD = 2.5 EC $ instead of the official rate which is 1 USD = 2.7 EC $.

In Dominica, the official language is English.

In Dominica, driving is on the left and is driven by Minivans, which do not have written on the windshield containing the route number and the final destination, from 6.00 to 19.00. You pay the driver before getting off. The service is very poor on Sunday.

To reach the Capital Roseau from Dominica Douglas-Charles Airport, located about 47 km north - east of the same by public transport, you need to walk about 1.5 km southwards, until you reach the northern outskirts of Marigot, where they pass, at least in the morning, quite frequently Minivans for the capital directed to the West Bus Station of Roseau, located near the Roseau River. The journey through the Central Forest Reserve takes approximately 1 hour and costs 10 EC $. You pay the driver before getting off. Another solution is to take the shared taxi that leaves the airport when full (4 people) and costs EC $ 80.

In Dominica I slept, at the Chelshayde Apartment and Studio, located in Swez Canal, Salisbury (Baroui), about 23km north of Roseau. Free Wi. Wonderful view of the sea below. Price per night: 40 USD. To reach it from the capital take a minivan from the West Bus Station towards Portsmouth and get off after about half an hour at Salisbury. Travel cost 4 EC $. From there, walk the uphill road for about 700 meters. and ask the locals who know Chelshayde Apartment and Studio very well.

If you want to visit Portsmouth, Dominica's second largest city, located 44.5km further north, you need to take a Minivan from Roseau's West Bus Station. The journey through the beautiful east coast takes about 1 hour and costs 9 EC $. You pay the driver before getting off.

The most important and most visited waterfalls in Dominica are the Trafalgar Falls, located in the beautiful Roseau Valley over 7km north-east of Roseau. They are open every day from 8.00 to 17.00. Admission to the same costs 13.5 EC $ or 5 USD. To see them it is necessary to walk uphill for about 10 minutes along a path and many steps. The falls have a maximum drop of 60 meters.

To reach the above waterfalls by public transport, go to Boyd's Aya in Roseau, near the entrance to the Botanical Gardens and take a minivan to Trafalgar Village (30 minutes, 3.5 EC $) and then walk less than 1 km uphill to the falls. Keep in mind that there are also Minivans going to the falls but less frequently.

To make excursions in the Morne Trois Pitons National Park, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is necessary to reach the Village of Laudat, located in the beautiful Roseau Valley over 9 km north-east of Roseau.

To do this by public transport, go to the Valley Rd stop in Roseau, near the entrance to the Botanical Gardens and take a minivan to Laudat (40 minutes, 5 EC $). Please note that this minivan also stops at Trafalgar Village less than 1km from the waterfalls of the same name

To reach the beautiful villages of Soufriere and Scotts Head, located on the west coast over 10km south of the capital, you need to go to the stop near the Old Market in Roseau, and take a minivan to Scotts Head (30 minutes, 5 EC $). It starts when all the seats are occupied. You pay the driver before getting off.

MARTINIQUE (FRANCE)

To reach Fort de France (Martinique) from Dominica, the cheapest solution is to take the ferry of the company L'Express Des Iles, which leaves from the Roseau ferry terminal a few times a week at 10.30 am for a minimum cost of 49 Euros. . Reservations can also be made via the internet. The trip takes about 2 hours.

Before embarking, you must pay a fee of 59 EC $, and then go through the security check (metal detector).

I therefore arrive at 12.30, at the ferry terminal of Fort de France (Martinique), located in the center of the capital. There are 5 hours of time zone, compared to Italy.

A visa is not required to enter Martinique (France) for tourism purposes and for a period not exceeding 90 days. It is enough to be in possession of a passport, or a valid identity card for expatriation.

To change money there is an exchange office in Fort de France on Rue Ernest Deproge. It is possible to obtain USD, EC $, TT $, Barbados dollars, ect. Bad exchange taxis, however: 1 Euro = 6 TT $

1 Euro = 1.9 Barbadian dollars.

The currency of Martinique (France) is the Euro.

In Martinique (France) the official language is French. English is not very widespread.

In Martinique (France), driving is on the right and is driven by minivans or collective taxis, which have written on the windshield containing the route number and the final destination, from 6.00 to 19.00. You pay the driver before getting off. All minivans and shared taxis depart from the Gare Multimodale de la Pointe Simon, near the Fort de France tourist ferry dock. Keep in mind that most of the inhabitants own a car and therefore the aforementioned public service is only good in the morning and late afternoon, poor for the rest of the day and even absent on Sunday.

The busiest route, i.e. the one in which you have to wait less for a minivan to fill up and leave, is the one that connects Fort de France and St Pierre, the second largest city, located on the west coast, 30 km north of the capital. Journey time: about 45 minutes. Cost: 4.5 Euros. You pay the driver before getting off.

In Martinique (France) I slept in the cheapest accommodation on the island, the Apartment Losat, located in Chemin rural de Saint-Aroman 77 Rrue du Temple Saint Aroman Morne des Esses, Bézaudin, about 25 km north-east of Fort de France, at a cost of 15.26 Euros per night for an apartment consisting of 1 double room, a bathroom, living room and kitchen (booking via the booking.com website). It is difficult to reach it by public transport, especially in the afternoon and by private taxi from Fort de France (Martinique) the costs exceed 30 Euros.

I took a collective taxi to Sainte Marie at a cost of 6 Euros and then I asked some local boys for a costly ride at a cost of 17 Euros.

Early in the morning, on the other hand, to return to Fort de France from my hotel, I took a collective taxi for the price of Euro 6.

It is difficult to visit Martinique by public transport for the reasons described above.

On the other hand, it is very easy to set foot in Anse à l'Ane, Anse Mitan, Pointe du Bout and Bourge des Trois - Ilets, as there are ferries every half hour, every day, leaving from the Fort de France tourist pier ( Martinique). Ticket price: 5 Euro single journey and 7 Euro return.

ST. LUCIA

To reach St Lucia, from Martinique (France), the cheapest solution is to take the ferry of the company L'Express Des Iles, which leaves from the ferry terminal of Fort de France, located in the center of the capital, sometimes the week at 13.30 at the minimum cost of 69 Euros. Reservations can also be made via the internet. The journey takes approximately 1h and 30 '.

Before embarking it is necessary and then to pass through the security control (metal detector).

I therefore arrive at 3.00 pm at the Castries (St Lucia) ferry terminal, located about 1 km east of the historic center of the capital. There are 5 hours of time zone, compared to Italy.

A visa is not required to enter St Lucia for tourism purposes and for a period not exceeding 90 days.

The currency of St Lucia is the Eastern Caribbean Dollar (EC $), but American Dollars (USD) are accepted everywhere (Hotels, Buses, Taxis, Shops, Restaurants, Supermarkets, Ferries, etc.), even if using this. the latter are considered with the following value 1 USD = 2.5 EC $ instead of the official rate which is 1 USD = 2.7 EC $.

In St Lucia, the official language is English.

In St Lucia, driving is on the left and is driven by Minivans, which have written on the windshield containing the route number and the final destination, from 6.00 to 19.00 (until 23.00 and even later on Friday evening on the Castries - Gros Islet.). You pay the driver before getting off. The service is very reliable and the waits to wait for the vehicle to fill up to leave are usually short. On Sunday the service is more efficient but still good.

In St Lucia I slept at Somewhere Special Guesthouse, run by a German couple, located in 18 Marie Therese St., Gros Islet, about 10 km north of Castries. Free Wi. At 50 mt. from the sea and 50 mt. from the bus stop. Price per night: 45 USD. To reach Vieux Fort, the second largest city of St Lucia by population, located on the west coast, at the southernmost point of the island 75 km from Castries, you need to take a Minivan x Soufriere (8 EC $) near the Central Market of Castries and then change and take another one to Vieux Fort (6 EC $), or take the direct (14 EC $) which starts from Micoud Street in Castries. You pay the driver before getting off. Frequent rides from 6.00 to 18.00. In Soufriere they arrive and depart from Henry Belmar Street, near the Parish Church. In Vieux Fort instead from the square on the northern outskirts of the city in St Judes Street adjacent to the landing strip of the International Airport.

Here are some indicative prices of minivans that travel along the west coast:

The ride from Soufriere to Choiseul costs (EC $ 3.75).

The ride from Choiseul to Vieux Fort costs (EC $ 3.50).

The ride from Soufriere to Anse La Raye costs (6 EC $).

The ride from Anse La Raye to Castries costs (2.5 EC $).

If you want to visit Pigeon Island National Park, which offers fantastic views, keep in mind that the park is open every day from 9.00 to 17.00 and admission costs 19 EC $. There is no public transport to reach it but you have to walk from Gros Islet for about 2km or take a taxi for 20 EC $.

When flying with Liat, keep in mind that we generally depart from George FL Charles Airport, located on the northern outskirts of Castries. There is no public transport to take you to the front of the terminal but if you are traveling on a budget you need to take a minivan operating between Castries and Gros Islet or vice versa and get off at the roundabout between Peninsular Road and John Compton Street, adjacent to the end of the runway landing and walk over a kilometer on Peninsular Road.

BARBADOS

Punctual as never before leaves from George FL Charles Airport, located in the northern suburbs of Castries (St. Lucia) at 11.20 my plane n. 371 of the LIAT Airline Company in the direction of Grantley Adams Airport (Barbados), (ticket price including taxes: USD 80.01).

Free drinks and snacks are not served on the plane.

I therefore arrive at 12.05 am, at Grantley Adams Airport (Barbados), located about 20 km south-east of Bridgetown, the capital of Barbados. There are 5 hours of time zone, compared to Italy.

A visa is not required to enter Barbados for tourism purposes and for a period not exceeding 90 days. It is sufficient to be in possession of a passport, with at least 6 months of residual validity at the time of entry into the country. Sometimes you are asked for a return or onward flight ticket and hotel reservation.

It is necessary to fill out a form to be delivered to customs, part of which must be returned when leaving the country.

At the airport it is possible to withdraw cash by debit or credit card.

The Currency of Barbados is the Barbados Dollar (B $), but American Dollars (USD) are accepted everywhere (Hotels, Buses, Taxis, Shops, Restaurants, Supermarkets, Ferries, etc.), even if using the latter. they are considered with the following value 1 USD = 2 B $ instead of the official rate which is 1 USD = 2.1 B $.

In Barbados, the official language is English.

In Barbados, driving is on the left and is driven by minivans, medium-sized buses and actual buses. All have written on the windshield containing the route number and the final destination. They run from 6.00 to 19.00. The service is significantly reduced on Sundays except in the south of the island which is the most touristic part. The ticket price is always 1 USD or 2 B $, for any type of bus and for any destination. The difference is that if the minivans give change, they do not have fixed timetables and have very frequent runs, the other 2 types of buses do not give change, they have fixed times and less frequent runs. Reasons why you probably find yourself traveling almost always with minivans, where you pay the attendant before getting off.

There are three terminals in Bridgetown:

• River Bus Terminal, only for minivans, located in the east area;

• Fairchild Bus Terminal, only for buses heading to the south and east of the island, located in the east on the river bank;

• Princess Alice Bus Terminal, only for buses heading to the north of the island, located in the west;

In Barbados I slept at Rio Guest House, located in Paradise Village, Saint Lawrence, BB00000 Christ Church, about 10 km south-east of Bridgetown. Free Wi. At 200 mt. from the sea and 200 mt. from the bus stop. Price per night: 44,89 Euros. To reach it from the airport, take a minivan or bus from the main road just beyond the parking lot to Bridgetown and get off near Divi Southwinds Resort in Paradise Village and walk for 200 meters. approximately towards the sea. Travel cost 2 B $ or 1 USD.

Antigua is a mountainous island in the north and flat in the south and therefore the roads are sometimes winding and there is no shortage of challenging climbs and therefore for those who have it it is nice to ride a bicycle. To this end, Paradise Scooter rents mountain bikes for USD 20 per day. Mandatory deposit to be left in cash or credit card of 150 USD. The shop is open from Monday to Friday from 8.00 to 17.00. On Saturday from 8.00 to 14.00. It is located in the north of Bridgetown on Masonhall Street.

Bridgetown, the capital of Barbados, is a World Heritage Site and can be explored on foot. However, Sunday is deserted and appears a bit disturbing.

The best beaches and nightlife are located in the southern part of the island, in the area between the airport and the capital.

One of the most visited attractions on the island is St Nicholas Abbey, one of the oldest Jacobean-style buildings in the Caribbean, located on Cherry Tree Hill, in the north-east of the island. Entrance from 10.00 to 15.30 from Sunday to Friday. Admission price: 45 B $ or 22.5 USD.

Those who set foot in Barbados cannot fail to visit at least one of the many botanical gardens on the island. For example, I visited the beautiful Hunte's Gardens, located in Castle Grand, in the center of the island. Admission every day from 9.00 to 17.00. Admission price: 30 B $ or 15 USD.

ST. VINCENT AND THE GRENADINES

Punctual as never before leaves from Grantley Adams Airport (Barbados), located about 20 km south-east of Bridgetown, the capital of Barbados at 09.05 my plane no. 771 of the LIAT Airline Company in the direction of ET Joshua Airport in Arnos Vale (St. Vincent), (ticket price including taxes: USD 82.20).

Free drinks and snacks are not served on the plane.

I therefore arrive at 09.45, at the ET Joshua Airport in Arnos Vale (St Vincent), located about 2 km south of Kingstown, the capital of St Vincent. There are 5 hours of time zone, compared to Italy.

A visa is not required to enter St Vincent and the Grenadines for tourism purposes and for a period not exceeding 90 days.

The currency of St Vincent and the Grenadines is the East Caribbean Dollar (EC $), but American Dollars (USD) are accepted everywhere (Hotels, Buses, taxis, Shops, Restaurants, Supermarkets, Ferries, etc.), even if using the latter are considered with the following value 1 USD = 2.5 EC $ instead of the official rate which is 1 USD = 2.7 EC $.

In St Vincent and the Grenadines, the official language is English.

In St Vincent and the Grenadines, driving is on the left and is driven by minivans and even some big buses, which do not have written on the windshield containing the route number and the final destination, from 5.30 to 19.00. You pay the attendant before getting off.

In St Vincent I slept in the cheapest accommodation on the island, the Buttercup Cottage Apartments, located on Windward Highway Arnos Vale, less than 1km as the crow flies (2km on foot) from ET Joshua Airport, at the cost of 55 USD or 150 EC $ per night for a studio apartment (booking via booking.com website). To reach it, from the airport, by public transport, you need to take any minivan heading south (1 EC $), and get off after a good 1 km, at the Chill Spot Restaurant and walk uphill for about 400 meters.

In Kingstown, the Bus terminal is located on Lower Bay Street and consists of 2 sectors, the east one for minivans for the south and east coast, the west sector for westbound minivans.

The minivan from Arnos Vale, where my hotel in Kingstown is located, costs 2 EC $.

In Kingstown, the Ferry Terminal is located on Upper Bay Street and this is where the Ferry Boats leave for Bequia and this is where the cruise ships arrive.

To reach the Beautiful Island of Bequia (Grenadines), you need to take a ferry. There are several companies that carry out the service but the one that makes the most trips a day is the Bequia Express which also transports cars. The cost of the ticket is 25 EC $, one way and 45 EC $ round trip. The same is purchased after boarding the ferry.

The daily departure times (Monday to Friday) of the outward journey from Kingstown: 8.00, 10.30, 13.00, 16.00 and 18.00.

The daily departure times (Monday to Friday) for the return journey from Port Elizabeth (Bequia): 6.30, 8.30, 9.30, 13.00, 16.30.

On Saturday there are only 3 races, while on Sunday 2.

The journey takes approximately 1 hour.

In Port Elizabeth (Bequia), the ferry arrives downtown.

In Port Elizabeth (Bequia), as soon as you get off the ferry there are yellow buses and minivans that take you around the island. Each ride always costs 1 EC $.

To reach Lower Bay, where there is the most beautiful beach on Bequia Island, the bus leaves you at the crossroads, on the main road, about 1 km from the beach, to be covered downhill.

In St Vincent, if you want to visit Owia Salt Pond, located in the northern part of the east coast of the island, you have to take a Minivan from Kingstown to Georgetown, bearing in mind that it also passes through the airport and also through Arnos Vale. (7 EC $ - 1 hour).

Then in Georgetown, you have to take a Minivan to Sandy Bay (2 EC $ - 30 ').

Finally in Sandy Bay, you have to take a Minivan to Owia (2 EC $ - 20 '). Keep in mind the Minivans to / from Owia are in service only 4 times a day and precisely in the morning around 8, at lunchtime in the early afternoon and late afternoon. To / from Fancy, on the other hand, only twice: early in the morning and late in the afternoon.

From the Village of Owia, at the point where the minivan stops, to go to Owia Salt Pond you have to walk for about half a kilometer, pay the entrance and then go down dozens of steps.

The Owia Salt Pond park is open every day from 9.00 to 17.00. Admission costs 5 EC $.

If you want to visit the west coast of St Vincent instead you need to take a Minivan from the Kingstown bus terminal to Chateaubelair (7 EC $ - 1 hour).

From Chateaubelair it is then necessary to walk for over 2 km, on an asphalted road through an environment forgotten by God, in which very few cars pass and it is also difficult to ask for a ride, until you reach the forgotten Village of Richmond, where there is a beautiful volcanic beach.

Once you walk back to Chateaubelair, you can take a minivan to the capital and get off at the Village of Wallilabou (5 EC $ - 20 '), where some scenes from the movie "Pirate of the Caribbean" were filmed in the past.

To return to Kingstown, with a minivan you need to spend 4 EC $. The journey takes about 40 minutes.

Keep in mind that the minivans that run on the west coast (up to Chateaubelair) and on the east coast (up to Sandy Bay) are in service from about 6.00 until about 18.00 with a good frequency of passage.

GRENADA

Punctual as never before leaves from ET Joshua Airport in Arnos Vale (St. Vincent), located about 2 km south of Kingstown, the capital of St Vincent, at 06.45 my Plane no. 560 of the LIAT Airline Company to Grantley Adams Airport (Barbados), (ticket price including taxes: USD 132.86, for 2 flights: St Vincent - Barbados and Barbados - Grenada).

Free drinks and snacks are not served on the plane.

I therefore arrive at 7.30 am, at Grantley Adams Airport (Barbados), located about 20 km south-east of Bridgetown, the capital of Barbados. There are 5 hours of time zone, compared to Italy. I remain in the transit area for 5 hours.

Punctual as never before from Grantley Adams Airport (Barbados), located about 20 km south-east of Bridgetown, the capital of Barbados at 12.35 my plane no. 727 of the LIAT Airline Company in the direction of Maurice Bishop Airport in Calliste (Grenada), (ticket price including taxes: USD 132.86, for 2 flights: St Vincent - Barbados and Barbados - Grenada).

A visa is not required to enter Grenada for tourism purposes and for a period not exceeding 90 days.

There is no bank to change money at the airport, but you can withdraw cash with an ATM or credit card.

The currency of Grenada is the Eastern Caribbean Dollar (EC $), but American Dollars (USD) are accepted everywhere (Hotels, Buses, Taxis, Shops, Restaurants, Supermarkets, Ferries, etc.) American Dollars (USD), even if using the latter. these are considered with the following value 1 USD = 2.5 EC $ instead of the official rate which is 1 USD = 2.7 EC $.

In Grenada, the official language is English.

In Grenada, driving is on the left and is driven by Minivans, which have written on the windshield containing the route number and the final destination, from 5.30 to 19.00. You pay the attendant before getting off. Minimum fee: 2.5 EC $. Many drivers drive like crazy.

In Grenada I slept in the cheapest accommodation on the island, the Cozy Hut, located in Sans Souci, in Saint George's, in the upper part of the city at a cost of 48 USD per night for a double room with bathroom (booking via the booking website. com). To reach it on foot from the center of Saint George it is necessary to walk uphill for 20 minutes first along Lucas Street for about 1 km and then turn left into Sans Souci Street and walk for about 500 meters, until you find the obvious Cozy Hut sign.

Keep in mind that there are no minivans between the airport and the capital but the number 1 theoretically arrives as far as the town of Calliste less than 2 km away and therefore you can either walk or take a taxi. I found an unofficial one that only asked me 5 EC $ to get to the bus terminal at Saint George's. To return to the airport from the capital, Minivan n. 1, which as illustrated above should stop 2 km before the airport, took me right in front of the airport, asking me, however, 10 EC $.

If you want to visit the island of Grenada well, you can go around it by public transport in one day, starting in the morning at 7.00 and returning at 20.00.

From the well organized bus terminal of St George, the capital of Grenada, located in Melville Street, in the north - west of the city, take a minivan to Willis (2.50 EC $ - 20 ') and get off after about 20 minutes at the crossroads for the Annandale Falls. The entrance of the same is only 100 meters away. on foot.

You pay the attendant before getting off. On this route the bus frequency from 6.00 to 19.00 is very high.

The Annandale Waterfalls are open from Monday to Friday from 8.00 to 17.00 and on Saturday and Sunday from 9.00 to 17.00. The entrance ticket costs 5.35 EC $. The falls are less than 5 minutes walk from the entrance.

Once you have visited the falls, from Willis take a minivan to St George and get off after about 5 minutes at the crossroads on the main road connecting the capital to Grenville (2 EC $ - 20 ').

From here, wait for one of the many minivans headed for Grenville and get off at the entrance to the Gran Etang Forest Reserve (3 EC $ - 20 '). Keep in mind that the wait can be quite long because the many minivans coming from the capital are full and therefore do not stop to pick you up.

To visit Gran Etang Forest Reserve, you must go to the visitor center which is open daily from 8.00 to 16.00 and pay 5.35 EC $. The beautiful Etang lake is only a 5 minute walk from here. Then you can hike in any length you want.

Then from the Gran Etang Forest Reserve visitor center, wait for one of the many minivans headed to Grenville (5 EC $ - 30 '). The road is very winding.

Get off downtown and visit the beautiful town of Grenville, located on the east coast of Grenada.

Then from Grenville, take one of the many minivans to Sauteurs (4 EC $ - 30 '). The road is very winding.

Go down to the center and visit the beautiful town of Sauteurs and its beautiful bay, located on the north - eastern tip of Grenada.

Then from Sauteurs, take one of the many minivans (no. 5) bound for St George and get off in the beautiful town of Victoria (3 EC $ - 30 '). The road is very winding. Remember that the last race is at 18.00.

Go downtown and visit the beautiful town of Victoria, located on the west coast of Grenada.

Then from Victoria, take one of the many minivans to St George and get off at the beautiful fishing village of Gouyave (2.5 EC $ - 15 ').

Get off downtown and visit Gouyave, located on the west coast of Grenada, with its beautiful beach.

Then from Gouyave, take one of the many minivans coming from Victoria to the St George bus terminal (5 EC $ - 40 '). Remember that the last race is at around 20.00.

The beautiful City of St George can be easily visited on foot. The top is the Bay called “The Carenage”. A wonderful view of the same can be enjoyed by going up to Fort George open every day from 7.00 to 17.00. Admission 5 EC $.

Another beautiful panorama can be seen from Fort Frederick located 2km east of the City. It is open every day from 8.00 to 17.00. Admission 5 EC $.

If, on the other hand, you want to visit the south - west part of the island, take minivan no. 1 for Calliste and get off after about 15 minutes near The Lime roundabout (2.5 EC $ - 20 ') and then walk for a few tens of meters and take a minivan directed to the peninsula of L'anse Aux Epines and then get off near Prickly Bay. (2.5 EC $ - 5 ').

If, on the other hand, you want to go sunbathing and swimming on the most famous beach of the island, from the well organized bus terminal of St George, the capital of Grenada, located in Melville Street, in the north - west of the city, take the minivan n. 1 to Calliste and get off after about 10 minutes near Grand Anse Bay (2.5 EC $). From there the aforementioned long beach is less than 5 minutes on foot.

If, on the other hand, you want to visit the beautiful Island of Carriacou, which is always part of the state of Grenada, keep in mind that every day at 9.00 (8.00 on Sunday), the ferry of the Osprey Company leaves from the east pier of Carenage in Saint George's. towards Hillsborough, the capital of Carriacou. The trip takes about 2 hours. Keep in mind that the same ferry returns the same day leaving at 15.30 from Carriacou. Tickets can be purchased from one hour before departure, before boarding. Price: one way, EC $ 80, round trip EC $ 160.

In Carriacou, there is a public transport service by minivan, but if you intend to visit the island independently, you can rent a bicycle from the tourist office, located opposite the Hillsborough ferry pier, which is almost certainly will make a phone call to find the bike. The rental price for a mountain bike is 25 EC $ per day. Deposit to be left in cash is 50 USD. Keep in mind that many roads are uphill.

The most interesting things to see in Carriacou apart from the Capital Hillsborough are: the Villages of Bogles and Windward and the beautiful beach of Paradise Beach.

TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO

Punctual as never before from Maurice Bishop Airport in Calliste (Grenada), located about 10 km south of Saint George's, the capital of Grenada, at 09.00 my plane no. BW441 of the Caribbean Airlines Company in the direction of Piarco Airport (Trinidad), (ticket price including taxes: USD 90.54)

Free drinks and snacks are not served on the plane.

I therefore arrive at 9.45 am, at Piarco Airport (Trinidad), located about 25 km east of Porto of Spain, the capital of Trinidad. There are 5 hours of time zone, compared to Italy.

A visa is not required to enter Trinidad and Tobago for tourism purposes and for a period not exceeding 90 days. It is sufficient to be in possession of a passport, with at least 6 months of residual validity at the time of entry into the country. Sometimes you are asked for a return or onward flight ticket and a hotel reservation as I did. They also asked me a billion questions about the reason for my presence in Trinidad and Tobago.

It is necessary to fill out a form to be delivered to customs, part of which must be returned when leaving the country.

It is possible to change money at the airport: there are various Money Changes, and it is also possible to withdraw cash by debit or credit card.

The currency of Trinidad and Tobago is the Trinidad and Tobago Dollar (TT $), but US Dollars (USD) are generally accepted in hotels, some restaurants, and some tourist attractions.

In Trinidad and Tobago, the official language is English.

In Trinidad and Tobago, driving is on the left and is driven by Minivan (Maxi taxi) which have written on the windshield containing the route number and the final destination, Shared taxi (Route taxi) or Big Bus (except Saturday and Sunday ), from 5.30 to 19.00. Keep in mind that on Saturday afternoon and Sunday the above service is very scarce.

In Trinidad I slept in the cheapest accommodation on the island, the Pearl's Guest House, located in the center of Port of Spain, in 3 & 4 Victoria Square, at a cost of 150 TT $ per night for a double room with shared bathroom. Hostelworld.com). It is less than one mile from the City Gate Terminal, located in the south-east of the City on South Quay Street.

Porto of Spain is a big city and it is necessary to know that you can walk downtown without problems at least in daylight hours, instead all the neighborhoods east of Henry Street, where crime prevails and murders are on the agenda.

To reach from Piarco Airport (Trinidad), the City Gate Terminal, located in the south-east area of Porto of Spain in South Quay Street, from Monday to Friday it is possible to take a Big Bus, but unfortunately, as it happened to me, you arrive on Saturday or Sunday it is necessary to take a Route taxi (it leaves only after it is full: 4 people), at a cost of 4 TT $, which in a few minutes to the nearby City of Arouca, where you have to take a maxi taxi that takes you for 3 TT $ to the nearby city where buses pass to the capital (7 TT $ - 40 ').

Trinidad's most important tourist attraction is the Caroni Bird Sanctuary, which is home to thousands of orange-colored Scarlet Ibis birds. In the late afternoon they return to their nests, coloring the plants orange. To see this spectacle of nature it is necessary to take a boat trip in the middle of the swamp. The cheapest operator that organizes this is Nanan, at a price of 60 TT $, for a two-hour boat trip departing every day at 16.30. It is better to book by phone (6451305), but usually arriving on site at 4.00 pm you can find a place on the boat.

The entrance to the Caroni Bird Sanctuary, where the aforementioned excursion starts, is located 14 km south of Porto f Spain, next to the highway to San Fernardo. To reach it, the operator Nanan offers transport included in the excursion to and from Porto of Spain at the price of 72 USD, coming to pick you up at your hotel. If you want to save money, keep in mind that from Monday to Friday Maxitaxis leave for Chaguanas from the City Terminal and can drop you off on the highway, near the park entrance (6 TT $ - 20 '). The return is more complex because you should hail a maxi taxi on the motorway. Saturdays and Sundays is another story because the maxi taxis are not in service and therefore you have to take a taxi route to Chaguanas from Broad Street, near Independence Square in Porto f Spain. It starts when all 4 seats are occupied but there is usually not too much to wait. The fare is 11 TT $. However, keep in mind there are no taxi routes that return to Porto f Spain after 18.00 on Saturdays and Sundays and therefore as the tour ends after 18.30 it is necessary to ask someone for a ride.

Another place not to be missed is Chaguaramas, located 10 km west of Porto of Spain. To reach it, keep in mind that from Monday to Friday numerous Maxitaxis and Big Buses leave from the City Terminal (2 TT $ - 20 '). For the Big bus, you need to buy a ticket at the desk in the terminal before getting on the bus. Saturdays and Sundays are another story because maxi taxis are not in service and Big Buses leave only about every 2 hours. Then you can take a taxi route to Chaguaramas from Broad Street, near South Quay Street in Port of Spain. It starts when all 4 seats are occupied but there is usually not too much to wait. The cost of the ride is 10 TT $. I don't know why but on the way back I found a taxi route that took me back to Port of Spain for the price of 5 TT $. This means that even on Sunday they are on duty but I don't know where they start from in the capital.

Chaguaramas can also be reached by water taxi from Port of Spain but not on Saturdays and Sundays.

The most famous and popular beach in Trinidad is Maracas Bay, located 15 km north-east of Porto of Spain. To reach it, keep in mind that, especially on Saturdays and Sundays, many Maxitaxis depart from 8.00 in the morning, on the corner of Henry Street and Queen Street in Porto of Spain, towards Maracas Bay and Las Cuevas Bay. (12 TT $ - 40 '). Keep in mind that these only return in the afternoon. If you have to return in the morning, ask for a ride to the city of Maraval, where there are numerous taxi routes that take you back to Porto of Spain (5 TT $ - 15 ').

To reach Tobago from Trinidad, in addition to the Caribbean Airlines Airline at the price of 150 TT $, keep in mind that the cheapest solution is to take the giant ferry of the Inter Island Ferry company, at the price of 50 TT $ (one way ). Motor vehicles are also transported. There are usually 2 or 3 departures a day: Sunday at 9.30 and 15.00. It can also be booked via the internet. There are over 800 seats. The trip takes 2 to 3 hours depending on the sea conditions. In Porto of Spain the ferry leaves from Tobago ferry terminal, located near the intersection of South Quay Street and Beetham Highway Street, and arrives at the Ferry Terminal in Scarborough, the capital of Tobago, located in the city center.

In Tobago I slept in the cheapest accommodation on the island, Ann's Villa Guest House, located in Bacolet Street at no. 81, 2km east of Scarborough Ferry Terminal, at a cost of TT $ 247 per night for a studio with double bed, bathroom and kitchen (booking via Booking.com). Wifi available. Breakfast not included. There is no public transport to reach it: either you take a taxi or go on foot.

To travel on the less touristy, but fascinating east coast, you can use the taxi route or the Maxi Taxi, but the frequency is scarce from Monday to Friday. The service is almost absent on Saturday and Sunday. Here are some pricing examples:

Taxi route from Scarborough town center to beautiful Speyside Village: 13 TT $ - 1 hour.

Maxi Taxi from Speyside Village to the beautiful Charlotteville Village, located on the northern tip of Tobago: 5 TT $ - 20 '.

Maxi Taxi from Charlotteville Village to Roxborough, corresponding to the road leading to Argyle Falls: 8 TT $ - 30 '.

Maxi Taxi from Roxborough, corresponding to the road leading to Argyle Falls in the center of Scarborough: 5 TT $ - 40 '.

Note that there is no public service connecting Roxborough on the east coast with Parlatuvier on the west.

One of Tobago's top attractions are the Argyle Falls (54m), the highest on the island, located in Roxborough, on the east coast. Opening hours: every day from 9.00 to 17.00. Entrance fee: 60 TT $ or 10 USD. In theory, the guide also includes the price, but it is not mandatory. From the point where the taxi route or maxi taxis drop you off on the main road in Roxborough, you need to walk less than half a kilometer to reach the desk where you can buy your ticket. To reach the waterfalls, on the other hand, it is necessary to walk for a further 15 minutes in the middle of the jungle, on a path mainly on the plain with a few steps at the end.

The most touristic area of Tobago is the south - east one, where there are the most beautiful beaches and facilities.

To visit this area it is necessary to reach Crown Point, where in addition to the airport there are most of the hotels, restaurants and shops dedicated to foreign tourists. To get there from the capital Scarborough you need to take a taxi route that leaves from the main road near the Ferry Terminal. There are 2 lanes to service the taxi route. That x Crown Point is the first (7 TT $ - 20 ').

To go to the most beautiful beaches of the south - west coast of Tobago, such as Store Bay, Pigeon Point (for a fee), Buccoo Bay, Mt Irvine Bay, Stone Haven Bay and Great Courland Bay, as it is a semi flat territory and the distances they are not prohibitive, the ideal is to rent a bike at Easy Goers Bicycle Rental, located on the main road just 200 meters away. from the International Airport. Opening hours: Monday to Saturday from 9.00 to 16.30. Rental cost per day: 80 TT $ or 15 USD. No deposit to leave.

At ANR Robinson International Airport, there is no border, that is, after the security check you are already at the gate and therefore you do not receive the stamps in your passport for leaving the country. However, when I was already in front of the gate waiting to board for London, the police asked me to follow them and they made a very careful check on my luggage and made me completely undress in a closet. They checked my backpack in detail and filled me with questions: where did I sleep, what was I doing in Tobago, ect. They evidently mistook me for a drug dealer, but the only thing they found was food, reports, maps and clothes.
