COMOROS REPORT TRAVEL.

MADAGASCAR

With a delay of about an hour, my plane leaves from Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport (Mauritius), at 18.50 my plane no. MD191 of the Air Madagascar Company in the direction of the International Airport of Ivato (Madagascar), (price of the multi-leg ticket including taxes from Mauritius to Ivato (Madagascar) and from Ivato (Madagascar) to Moroni (Comoros): Euro 412.00) .

The journey takes 1 hour and 45 minutes.

On the plane they offer you dinner.

Arrival at 7.30 pm, at Ivato International Airport (Madagascar). There is a time zone time compared to Italy.

The small Ivato Airport (Madagascar) consists of 2 adjacent terminals, one for domestic flights and one for international flights.

The currency exchange counter, which offers exchange rates similar to those offered by the counters located in the center of Antananarivo, is located on the far left for those leaving the baggage claim hall. Ignore other desks that offer unfavorable rates.

To be able to set foot in Madagascar, for tourism, it is necessary to have a visa that is issued directly at the airport and that can be paid in Ariary, Euro, American Dollars or Pounds. The change is given in Euros if you pay for it in Euros. The multi-entry visa does not exist and therefore every time you enter the country you have to pay even if you stay less than 1 day. The visa takes up a whole page of the passport in addition to the entry stamp that is affixed to another page of the passport. You don't just pay if you're in transit, of course.

Here are the prices of the visa:

Cost of a tourist visa for a stay up to 30 days:

80,000 AR

27 euros

30 USD

£ 25

Cost of a tourist visa for a stay of up to 60 days:

100,000 AR

35 Euros

40 USD

£ 35

Cost of a tourist visa for a stay of up to 90 days:

140,000 AR

45 euros

50 USD

£ 45

Keep in mind that a good 70% of the population in addition to speaking Malagasy speaks French but that very few speak English.

Ivato Airport is located 12 km north of the center of Antananarivo. If like me you are in transit and you stop in Madagascar for only one night, it is convenient to spend it at the Le Cosmos Hotel (AR 47,000 per night), located just 500 meters away. from the airport and therefore can be easily reached on foot, along the main road that runs towards the capital. There is a sidewalk. The Hotel is on the right.

To leave Madagascar you need to fill out a simple form.

Prince Saïd Ibrahim Airport (Moroni - Grande Comore) is located 20 km north of the center of the Moroni capital. To reach it, you need to leave the Terminal and walk for about 200 meters. until you reach the main road. Frequent Taxi Brousse and collective taxis pass here, offering more or less the same rates.

If from Prince Saïd Ibrahim Airport (Moroni - Grande Comore), instead, you are headed to Lac Salè, located north of the island, you need to take a Taxi Brousse, coming from Moroni and heading to Mitsamiouli. The cost of the ride is 500 Cf. It is paid to the attendant after the vehicle has left. Journey time approximately 45 minutes. It stops on demand everywhere.

Frequent shared taxis also travel this route at similar rates. Once in front of the Mitsamiouli Market, take a collective taxi heading north which can leave you right in front of the Sale. It starts when it is full or even super full. The cost of the ride is 300 Cf. It is paid to the driver before getting off. Journey time approximately 45 minutes. It stops on demand everywhere.

In Itsandra I slept at the Amal Pension, at a cost of 20,000 Cf or 10 Euros per night for a double room with private bathroom, Wifi included but available only outside the room. This accommodation can also be booked by email. You can also pay in Euros. It is located on the main road 3 km north of the center of Moroni.

Keep in mind that Brousse taxis to Mbéni depart from the northern outskirts of Moroni, near the Palace Hotel. The ride lasts about 1 hour at a price of 750 Cf. It starts when full, but apart from Friday afternoon, the rides are frequent.

Keep in mind that the Brousse taxis to Foumboni leave from the southern outskirts of Moroni, in the Cartala terminal. The ride takes about 1 hour and a half for the price of 750 Cf. It starts when it is full, but apart from Friday afternoon, the rides are frequent.

To move to Moroni and Itsandra from 5.00 in the morning until about 11.00 pm, collective taxis are used. There are plenty of them and they cost from 150 to 250 Cf depending on the length of the route and the taxi driver you find.

Keep in mind that to reach from Itsandra, Prince Saïd Ibrahim International Airport (Moroni - Grande Comore), just take any Brousse taxi or collective taxi heading north and ask the driver to stop in front of the airport. The ride takes about half an hour. The fare is 200 Cf. The rides are very frequent from the morning after 5.00, except on Friday afternoon, dedicated to prayer.

To leave the Comoros you need to fill in a form.

At the time of my trip to Prince Saïd Ibrahim International Airport (Moroni - Grande Comore), the metal detector did not work and, moreover, the control of my backpack was incredibly superficial;

FRANCE

Delayed by about half an hour, my Airplane no. Leaves from Prince Saïd Ibrahim International Airport (Moroni - Grande Comore) at 10.00 am. MD151 of the Air Madagascar Company in the direction of the International Airport of Ivato (Madagascar), (price of the multi-route ticket including taxes from Charles de Gaulle to Roissy en France to Ivato (Madagascar) and from Moroni (Comoros) to Charles de Gaulle to Roissy en France, with a stopover in Ivato (Madagascar): Euro 910.00).

At the 2D terminal of Charles de Gaulle Airport in Roissy en France, I rent a car (price obtained online on the rentalcars website: Euoro 33.00 for one day).

50 km south of Paris is the beautiful Chateau de Fontainebleau, declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco. Admission to its beautiful gardens is free. You pay 12 Euros only for the visit of the interior of the Castle.

In Paris, there are incredibly no direct public transport connections between Charles de Gaulle Airport in Roissy en France and Paris Beauvais Airport and so I reached it using the means of transport already described in the very first phase of this story.

Punctual as never before from Paris Beauvais International Airport at 9.55 pm my plane no. FR4234 of the Ryanair Company in the direction of Orio al Serio International Airport, (return ticket price including taxes: Euro 53.22), where I arrive at 11.30 pm thus ending my trip.
