LEBANON REPORT TRAVEL

Outbound flight of the Turkish company Pegasus Airline with departure from Orio al Serio at 13.55, with connection of 6 hours at Istanbul-Sabiha Gökçen International Airport (Turkey) and arrival at Beirut Rafic Hariri International Airport (Lebanon) at 1 at night approximately (cost of the return ticket: 278.61 Euros). Coming from Istanbul, border controls are tightened and therefore I am subjected to a series of questions from the Police to ascertain that he is a tourist and then all the pages of the passport are photocopied and the Hotel where I booked is contacted to verify that the same made with Booking is true. So after about 1 hour I can get an entry visa that allows me to stay in the country for 30 days. Vito I spend the first night at the airport with chairs without armrests that allow you to lie down. To reach the center of Beirut, located just 9 km north of the airport, the cheapest solution is to walk about 1 km north until you find a kind of roundabout, near military posts. There, wait on the right side of the road for one of the many minibuses headed for the center. The cost of the ride is 1,000 LBP. You pay directly to the driver before getting off. If, as in my case, you are headed to the Cola Bus hub, which after all is a large intersection where buses and minibuses leave for every corner of the country, you have to be dropped off by the driver at a special intersection and then take another minibus always at the price of 1,000 LBP, because there are no direct minibuses: however, this is not easy because often the drivers speak only Arabic. From Beirut's Cola Bus Hub there are several buses a day to Samqaniyeh, which for 3,000 LBP drop you off in the northern suburb of Baaqline (approximately 1 hour), at the roundabout to Beiteddin, where taxis are posted. which take you, at a cost of 2,000 LBP (negotiate the price), to the nearby Beiteddin Palace located only about 1 km away. The Beiteddin Palace, located in the homonymous country opens at 9.00 am and the ticket price is 10,000 LBP. Inside it you can admire dozens and dozens of mosaics. To go to nearby beautiful Deir al Qamar, just 5km from Beiteddin there are rare minibuses and even rarer on Saturdays and Sundays, but a wildly bargaining taxi ride costs 7,000 LBP. From Deir al Qamar, to return to the capital Beirut, there are rare minibuses and even more rare on Saturdays and Sundays and therefore it is useful to move to the nearby town of Kfarhim where the frequency of public transport is higher. A taxi ride to get there costs LBP 4,000, bargaining wildly. Frequent minibuses pass from Kfarhim to Beirut, much more rarely on Saturdays and Sundays, which take you in less than an hour to the Cola Bus Hub in Beirut for the price of 2,000 LBP. You pay directly to the driver before getting off. From the Cola Bus Junction Area in Beirut there are very frequent minibuses which, at a price of 3,000 LBP, take you to Sidon in 1 hour and more precisely to the Bus Station near the roundabout between Takkeyeddine El Solh Street and Al Nejmeh Street. They leave when they are full and you pay the driver before getting off. Sidon gets around very well on foot. From Sidon, in the same way as the outward journey, return to the Cola Bus hub in Beirut, where to reach the Talal Hotel, located in Charles Helou street at 200 meters. about from the bus station of the same name, I am forced to take a taxi at a cost of 5 USD as there are no minibuses that cover this route. The Talal Hotel is the cheapest in the city. Cost for a bed without breakfast in a 3-bed dormitory: Euro 15.00. From the Charles Helou Bus Station, buses run every half hour to Tripoli by the Connexion company from 7.30 to 19.30 from Monday to Friday, from 8.10 to 19.00 on Saturday and from 9.00 to 19.00 on Sunday. Tickets can be purchased at the adjacent ticket office. The cost is 5,000 LBP. The journey takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes and is also operated by frequent minibuses which depart from the Cola bus hub. Both vehicles also stop on request in Byblos (on the state road about 700 meters from the historic center). In Tripoli the buses coming from the Charles Helou Bus Station in Beirut stop near the Karami Square roundabout, about 500 meters. from the historic center, while the minibuses coming from the Cola Bus hub stop in Tell Square. Tripoli can be easily explored on foot. Entrance to the Citadel of Raymond de Saint Gilles costs 5,000 LBP. From the top of it you can enjoy an incredible view of almost the entire city.

On my way back to Beirut, I stopped to visit the city of Byblos (cost of the trip by minibus 2,000 LBP), whose historic center has been declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco. Inside it there is also the archaeological site which also contains the Crusader Castle. The admission price is 8,000 LBP.

To return to Beirut I took a Minibus on the State Road near the center of Byblos for the price of 2,000 LBP, which left me in the northern suburbs of Beirut where I took another one for the Charles Helou Bus Station for the price of 1,000 LBP

I visited Beirut on a mountain bike rented from Ciclo Sport in the Gemmayzeh district at the price of 7,000 LBP per hour.

There are many roadblocks and many military in the center of Beirut and you have to be careful not to photograph sensitive lenses otherwise they make you cancel it. The Cornice, that is the promenade of Beirut, is beautiful and almost always very crowded.

To return to Beirut-Rafic Hariri International Airport, I take one of the minibuses that pass in Bechara El Khoury heading south, which takes you to a kind of roundabout, near military posts, about 1km south of the airport, from walk.

Since I have the plane at 06.05 am I sleep at the aforementioned airport.

Return flight of the Turkish company Pegasus Airline with departure from Beirut at 06.05, with a 3-hour connection to Istanbul-Sabiha Gökçen International Airport (Turkey) and arrival at Orio al Serio International Airport (Bg) at 13.10. (cost of the return ticket: 278.61 Euros).

BAHAMAS REPORT TRAVEL.

With 1 hour delay my plane no. 2 leaves from Terminal 2 of José Marti International Airport in Havana (Cuba) at 2.15pm. UP212 of the Bahamas Air Company to Lynden Pindling International Airport in New Providence (Bahamas), (one-way ticket price: USD 183.00).

Arrival at 3.15 pm, at Lynden Pindling International Airport in New Providence (Bahamas), located 16 km west of Downtown Nassau, the capital of the Bahamas. There are 6 hours of time zone, compared to Italy.

To enter the Bahamas for tourism purposes, a visa is not required for up to 90 days of stay. The customs declaration form must be completed. Keep in mind that baggage checks are very thorough. They make you open all your bags.

Note that the Bahamian dollar ("B $"; ISO 4217 code "BSD") has been the national currency of Bahamas since 1966. It is usually denoted by the dollar sign $ or alternatively with B $ to distinguish it from other currencies that they are called dollar. It is divided into 100 cents. The Bahamian dollar is pegged to the US dollar at a one-to-one rate, so you can use the US dollar to pay for anything, but beware that the rest is given to you in Bahamian Dollars.

The cheapest way to get to Downtown Nassau from Lynden Pindling International Airport in New Providence (Bahamas), located 10 miles west, is to exit the Arrivals Hall, turn left and walk on the road that runs towards north - east and that leads outside the airport area. You arrive after 500 meters. abundant at a roundabout on John F. Kennedy Street. Not far away you can see a Shell petrol station. Keep in mind that from that roundabout, minibus no. 12b, which at a price of 2.5 USD, will take you in about 40 minutes to Downtown Nassau and precisely to W Bay Street, in front of Mc Donald's, where buses no. 10 headed to Cable Beach. Wave your hand to stop the Minibus. You pay the driver before getting off.

As we know, Nassau costs a lot of money and the cheapest hotel in the city is the Orchard Garden Hotel, located on Village Road, about 4 km east of Downtown. The cost of a bed in a dormitory is 35 USD per night including breakfast which can be served from 8.00 to 10.00 and including use of the swimming pool. The Hotel is made up of many small houses. In itself it is not bad even if the location is not particularly advantageous and the cleanliness of the rooms is certainly not sufficient make it a less frequented accommodation for travelers. However, the Hotel can be reached from the Bay Street stop 200 meters. east from the intersection with East Street in Downtown, taking minibus no. 11 or 19 which stops on Village Road right in front of the Orchard Garden Hotel entrance. The aforementioned buses run every day from 6.00 to 19.00. The journey takes 10 minutes from Dwntown to the Hotel and 25 minutes from the Hotel to Doewntown as the minibuses in question make a loop. Wave your hand to stop the Minibus. You pay the driver 1.25 USD before getting off.

Although thousands of tourists disembarking from cruise ships visit Nassau, the capital of the Bahamas every day, it is not too safe a city. During the day you can walk freely almost anywhere, possibly avoiding the Over the Hill area, where murders are commonplace. After sunset, however, it is necessary to be very careful a little everywhere.

For those who need to find a computer to surf the internet, keep in mind that in Downtown Nassau, on the corner of Cumberiand Street and King Street, there is an internet point managed by the City, open every day from 6.00 to 19.00 which allows unlimited free use of computers with internet.

Paradise Island is the island of entertainment and luxury adjacent to Nassau. Here everything costs forever, but with a little luck you can visit it without paying a dollar. It is connected to the port of Nassau with scheduled ferries at a cost of 4 USD, one way or 8 USD round trip, but it can also be reached on foot using the 2 bridges over 1 km long that connect it with the mainland . To begin with, you can visit the Village full of shops, then enter the Atlantic by visiting the Casino. Cross it all the way and exit right onto the gardens, with a beautiful view of the lagoon. Turn left and walk along the paths until you find a flight of stairs that descends into the aquarium. I also visit the aquarium, return to the gardens and go to the water park. Take a look and then continue to the Cay delfin where you can admire the dolphins playing with the bathers. All this can be done for free. If, on the other hand, you want to use swimming pools, slides, play with Dolphins, ect., You have to pay an ocean of dollars.

In New Providence, cycling is not recommended because the traffic is heavy, the streets are narrow and dangerous and because there is no cycling culture and motorists do not respect them that much. But if you really care as much as I do, keep in mind that the only place to rent a bicycle is the Cycles Unlimited shop, located in Nassau at Mackey Street n. 53. The minimum cost of renting a bicycle is USD 26.88. The tour of the island is about 70 km.

Punctual as never before leaves Nassau at 12.39 my plane no. 497 of the Delta Air Lines Company in the direction of John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York (USA), (price of the multi-route ticket including taxes from Malpensa to Santo Domingo and from Nassau to Malpensa with a stopover in New York: Euro 628, 00).

Arrival on time at 3.47 pm, at Terminal 2 of John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York (USA). There are 6 hours of time zone, compared to Italy.

In order to set foot in the United States of America, I had to complete the quick online ESTA procedure by paying $ 14 by credit card. Entry into the country valid for 2 years was approved by the system immediately after the end of the online procedure which lasted about 1 hour.

The airport consists of 8 terminals connected to each other by a free train.

Punctual as never before from Terminal 2 of John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York (USA) at 19.00 my plane no. 372 of the Delta Air Lines Company in the direction of Malpensa International Airport, (multi-route ticket price including taxes from Malpensa to Santo Domingo and from Nassau to Malpensa with a stopover in New York: Euro 628.00).

Therefore, I arrive at 8.25 A.M., at Malpensa International Airport.

CUBA REPORT TRAVEL.

Punctual leaves from Donald Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay (Jamaica) at 10.00 my plane no. KX621 of the Cayman Airways Company to Grand Cayman International Airport (Cayman Islands), (one-way ticket price from Montego Bay to Havana, with a stopover in Grand Cayman (Cayman Islands): USD 277.00).

Punctual arrival at 10.55 am at Grand Cayman International Airport (Cayman Islands). There are 6 hours of time zone, compared to Italy.

To enter the Cayman Islands (British Overseas Territory) for tourism reasons, a visa is not required for a stay of up to 90 days. The customs declaration form must be completed. There is no screen at this airport to see if your flight is on time.

To reach the center of George Town from the airport, the capital of the Cayman Islands, located 4 km west, or you can take a taxi at a cost of 15 USD, or you have to go outside the airport area and take minibus n. 4b or by walking for about 1 km towards the center, minibus n. 2b. The cost is 2.5 USD. You pay before you get off. The remainder is given in KYD. Anyway all minibuses head to the Terminal located in Edward Street, near Heroes Square.

With a 5-hour delay my plane no. 1 leaves from Grand Cayman International Airport (Cayman Islands) at 6.30 pm. KX832 of the Cayman Airways Company in the direction of the José Marti International Airport of Havana (Cuba), (price of one-way ticket from Montego Bay to Havana, with a stopover in Grand Cayman (Cayman Islands): USD 277.00).

Arrival 5 hours late, at 19.30, of the José Marti International Airport of Havana (Cuba), located 25 km southwest of the center of Havana. There are 6 hours of time zone, compared to Italy.

To enter Cuba, for tourism reasons, up to 30 days, it is necessary to be in possession, before arriving in Cuba, of the tourist tarjeta and to obtain it you must personally present yourself at the Consulate, located in Milan in Via Pirelli, 30, not far from the Central Railway Station, open from Monday to Thursday, from 9.00 to 12.00, with passport, return flight booking, hotel or casa particular booking for the first night. The cost of the visa is 22 €. The tarjeta turística is released the same day.

The staff of the Milan Consulate is extremely slow and it is always crowded and therefore you have to take into account that you will lose an entire morning.

A much faster method, albeit a little more expensive (25 Euros instead of 22 Euros), is to contact a visa agency. In Milan it is located just below the Consulate (www.cubapoint.it). Among other things, the same agency is also open in the afternoon and on Saturdays and also issues the visa instantly. The assistant has you fill in the Tourist Tarjeta in both parts and hands it over to you, after paying 25 Euros and without asking you for your air ticket or hotel reservation. By doing this you save a lot of time by paying only 3 Euros more than what the Consulate requires.

As of May 1, 2010, all travelers, foreigners and Cubans residing abroad, upon entering the country, must necessarily have an insurance policy that also covers any medical expenses to be incurred on the island. The policy must be issued by insurance entities recognized in Cuba (see list of companies published on the website www.asistur.cu) and can in any case also be purchased at the border at the price of 1 CUC per day, through Cuban insurance companies. In this regard, it should be noted that the Cuban institution responsible for assisting tourism, with particular regard to the medical-health aspect, is ASISTUR which normally operates in a timely and efficient manner. However, it should be noted that the speed and quality of the service provided by ASISTUR depend on the relationship that this same entity has with the chosen insurance company, on the type of policy underwritten and on the promptness with which the latter guarantees the reimbursement of expenses to the entity. to support.

The Travel Policy Sicuri.com is also accepted as the staff in charge of the stipulation reiterated by email that the Cuban Consulate in Italy has communicated that all insurance companies are valid for the Cuban Government, except those American. The Safe Travel policy is underwritten by Europäische Reiseversicherung AG, a German company with its head office in Munich. Therefore Safe Travel policies are valid and accepted for your trip to Cuba.

At the border of the José Marti International Airport in Havana, I handed over the tourist tarjeta, which was stamped and divided into 2. A half was returned to me which must be returned before leaving the country. Instead, I was not asked for the insurance policy, which is mandatory by law.

Then I handed the Customs declaration to the clerk, who let me pass without checking my hand luggage, the only one in my possession.

Two currencies circulate in Cuba, the Cuban peso (CUP), also known as the national currency, and the Cuban convertible peso (CUC), which is equivalent to the US dollar. The ratio between the CUC and the CUP, for natural persons, is 1 to 24. Most goods and services can however be purchased exclusively in convertible pesos.

Circulation of US dollars (USD) in cash is not permitted. If exchanged in the bank, they suffer a further increase of 10% in addition to bank charges for exchange transactions.

However, the CUC is the so-called tourist currency as with this currency services are purchased at prices similar to those in Europe and you cannot pay for buses, cheap restaurants, ect.

It is therefore advisable to have both coins and understand with a little intuition which coin to use. It's not that trivial.

In the Departures Hall it is possible to exchange money, not US dollars and it is possible to have only Cuban Convertible Pesos (CUC). The exchange rate is very disadvantageous: 1 Euro = 1.04 CUC.

I took a taxi to reach the uncomfortable Viazul Bus Station, located on the corner of Calle 26 and Zoologico, 3 km southwest of Revolution Square. I shared it with 2 other Swiss tourists. In the end he asked us for 40 CUC, but I, in agreement with my traveling companions, paid 10 CUC. The journey took about 40 minutes.

Getting around Cuba is not as easy as in other countries. Transport is not as efficient and frequent and there are many limitations for tourists and so I opted to travel with the most reliable and expensive bus company in Cuba, Viazul, which even allows you to book the ticket via the Internet, but only up to one week before the trip. However, once you have printed the ticket you still have to go, one hour before departure, to the Viazul Desk of the Bus Station, to check in online, which allows you to print the actual ticket which you will then deliver to the driver first to get on the bus. Viazul Buses usually have a bathroom in tow, but they don't offer you food or water. Sometimes they break and arrive late at their destination.

To reach Santiago de Cuba from Havana (about 800 km journey), there are 3 Viazul buses a day that depart at 6.30, 15.00 and 00.30 and arrive after about 15 hours and 30 '. The bus stops at various intermediate destinations, almost all of which are touristic. The cost of the ticket is 51 CUC.

The Viazul Bus Station is located together with the railway station 2 km north of the historic center, which can be reached by paying 4 CUC for a taxi or 20 CUP for a motor taxi. To reach the Castle of La Roca del Moro, declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco and located on top of a promontory 60 meters high, at the entrance to the port of Santiago de Cuba, 10 km southwest of the city, I hired a taxi that for 12 CUC, took me to the aforementioned castle, waited for me for an hour to allow me to visit it and finally brought me back to the historic center of Santiago de Cuba.

The entrance to the Castle of La Roca del Moro, declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco, costs 4 CUC. The castle is open every day from 8.00 to 19.30.

The historic center of Santiago de Cuba appears safe even in the evening and can be easily explored on foot.

To reach Camagüey from Santiago de Cuba, there are 3 Viazul buses a day that depart at 6.30, 16.00 and 00.30 in the direction of Havana and which also stop in Camagüey after about 6 hours. The cost of the ticket is 18 CUC.

The Viazul Bus Station, the Alvaro Barba Bus Station, of Camagüey, is located 3 km south-east of the historic center, which can be reached by paying 3 or 4 CUC for a taxi or 0.20 CUP for the bus you take. on the main road and drops you off at the Casino Campestre on the eastern edge of the historic center. Remember that on local buses, CUCs are not accepted, only CUPs and that it is not possible to have change. You put the coin in the special box as you go up.

The historic center of Camagüey, declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco, appears safe only during the day and can be easily explored on foot. After sunset, pay close attention.

To reach Santa Clara from Camagüey, there are 3 Viazul buses a day that depart at 6.30, 14.25 and 23.45 in the direction of Havana and which also stop in Santa Clara after about 5 hours and 30 '. The cost of the ticket is 15 CUC.

The Terminal de Omnibus Nacionales of Santa Clara, where the Viazul buses also depart and arrive, is located 500 meters away. north of the monument to Che, on the Carretera Centrale, 2.5 km west of Parque Vidal, which can be reached by paying 2 or 3 CUC for a taxi or 0.20 CUP for the bus that takes you on the main road and leaves you right at Parque Vidal. Remember that on local buses, CUCs are not accepted, only CUPs and that it is not possible to have change. You put the coin in the special box as you go up.

To sleep in Santa Clara on a budget it is possible to stay in one of the particular houses, located around Parque Vidal, at a minimum cost of 20 CUC, for a double without breakfast.

The historic center of Santa Clara appears safe even in the evening and can be easily explored on foot.

To reach Cienfuegos from Santa Clara, I took the 11.25 am Viazul bus in the direction of Trinidad which also stops in Cienfuegos after 1 hour and 30 '. The cost of the ticket is 6 CUC.

The Cienfuegos Bus Station, where the Viazul Buses also depart and arrive, is located at the intersection of Calle 49 and Av 56, about 1.5 km east of Parque Josè Marti, which can therefore be reached on foot.

To sleep in Cienfuegos on a low budget, it is possible to stay in one of the particular houses, located all over the historic center, at a minimum cost of 20 CUC, for a double without breakfast.

The historic center of Cienfuegos appears safe even in the evening and can be easily explored on foot.

If, on the other hand, from Cienfuegos you want to reach Punta Gorda, you can take Bus n. 1 that passes in Calle 37, with the frequency of about every hour, or on a kind of Rickshaw at a cost of 2 CUC.

To reach Varadero from Cienfuegos, there are 3 Viazul buses a day that depart at 9.15, 10.00 and 17.45 in the direction of Havana and which also stop in Varadero after about 4 hours and 30 '. The cost of the ticket is 16 CUC.

The Terminal de Omnibus of Varadero, where the Viazul Buses also depart and arrive, is located in Varadero Est, at the intersection of Calle 36 and Autopista Sur, 1 km abundantly southwest of the Parque Central, which can therefore be reached on foot .

Varadero is the most touristic and exclusive area in all of Cuba, where there are fabulous beaches, shopping centers, luxury hotels and resorts and where therefore finding cheap accommodation is not so easy but with a little commitment you can also find it in 30 CUC.

Varadero looks safe even in the evening.

To reach Matanzas from Varadero, there are 3 Viazul buses a day that depart at 12.00, 16.00 and 19.35 in the direction of Havana and which also stop in Matanzas after about 1 hour. The cost of the ticket is 6 CUC.

The Matanzas National Bus Station, where the Viazul Buses also depart and arrive, is located on Calle 131, at the intersection with Calle 272, an abundant 1 km south of Plaza de la Vigia, which can therefore be reached on foot.

To sleep in Matanzas, spending little, it is possible to stay in one of the particular houses, located in the historic center, at a minimum cost of 20 CUC, for a double without breakfast.

The historic center of Matanzas appears safe at least during the day and can be easily explored on foot.

To reach Havana from Matanzas, there are 3 Viazul buses a day that depart at 1.10pm, 5.10pm and 8.45pm from Varadero. The trip takes about 2 hours. The cost of the ticket is 7 CUC.

Keep in mind that this bus ends its journey to Havana at the inconvenient Viazul Bus Station, located on the corner of Calle 26 and Zoologico, 3 km southwest of Revolution Square, but also stops first in Habana Vieja on Calle Cuba , where Rickshaws and Taxis await you offering disproportionate prices to take you to the Hotel. In the end, being 11.00 pm, I agreed to be taken by rickshaw for the price of 4 CUC to Hostal Peregrino in Calle Industria, after a ruthless bargaining. Had it been day I would have gone on foot, since it was less than 1 km away.

Hostal Peregrino gave me a double room in a particular house without breakfast for the price of 20 CUC.

Habana Vieja, you can easily go around on foot and appear safe both day and night.

To reach the José Marti International Airport of Havana (Cuba), located 25 km south-west of the center of Havana, spending only 1 CUP, you need to take Bus no. 12, which leaves every half hour on the road west of the Parque de la Fraternidad, in the direction of Santiago de Las Vegas, along AV Simon Bolivar, Av Salvador Allende, Av de Carlos de Made Cespedes and Av Boyeros. From here it will be necessary to walk over 1 km to reach Terminal 2 and 2 km to reach Terminal 3. For Terminal 1, instead get off at the next stop. Ask the driver when to get off as if you don't know the area it's not all that intuitive.

PERU' REPORT TRAVEL.

FLORIDA (USA)

Punctual as never before, my American Airlines Airplane leaves from Milan Malpensa at 9.40 in the direction of Lima (Peru), with a short one-day stopover in Miami (USA) (round trip price including taxes Euro 690.29).

In order to set foot in the United States of America, I had to complete the quick online ESTA procedure by paying $ 14 by credit card. Entry into the country valid for 2 years was approved by the system immediately after the end of the online procedure which lasted about 1 hour.

At Malpensa Airport instead, to get you on a flight departing for the USA, during the online check-in you are subjected to a series of questions about who packed the baggage, when, where did the last night stay, how many electronic devices carry with you, when you bought them, ect.

It is also not allowed to send baggage directly to the final destination, in my case Lima, but it must be unloaded at the transit airport, in my case Miami, for a border control and then boarded on the next flight.

At Miami International Airport, located just 5 km from downtown Miami (USA), baggage and entry controls are very thorough. Past the same I take to the outside of level 1 of Terminal E where there is a small shelter inside which you can take advantage of the automatic machines that issue tickets for the Tri Rail, which runs along the line from Miami to Mangonia Park. A one-way ride to Fort Lauderdale costs $ 5. From here the free bus no. 133 which runs at regular intervals takes you in just 10 minutes to Miami Airport Train Station, where a train leaves every half hour towards Mangonia Park, making many intermediate stops. For Fort Lauderdale, the same takes less than an hour. Of course, the aforementioned ticket machines are also available at all train stations. The ticket must not be stamped.

Back in Miami this time I get off at the Metrorail Transfer Train Station, where there is the connection for the Metrorail, which would be the Miami subway. The ticket costs $ 2.25 and can be bought at the machines. The same I allow to make only one run.

Then I get off at the Government Center stop where I take the free Metromover, which allows you to take a panoramic tour of the city and get off in the heart of Miami, which I visit on foot.

I return to Miami International Airport, using the following means of transport: Metromover, Metrorail, and the free Mia Mover Train.

PERU’ PART 1

Here I take the American Airlines night plane to Lima (Peru).

Security checks at Lima's Jorge Chàvez International Airport are quick and easy.

From Jorge Chàvez International Airport, located 20 km northwest of the tourist district of Miraflores in Lima, I take one of the many combos with the "S" on the windshield, for the price of S 3, which passes south along Av. Elmer Faucett , about 200 cmt. from the arrivals hall of the aforementioned airport. The journey takes about an hour and I spend most of it standing. The combi leaves me in Miraflores at 250 mt. about from the Mc Donald's of Ovalo. You pay when you go down or earlier if you prefer.

In Miraflores, rent a bicycle for the price of 30 S, for half a day, including lock and helmet from “Bike Tours of Lima” located in Via Bolivar 150.

There are endless police officers to ensure the safety of tourists and residents.

From Av. Petit Thouars, a few tens of meters north of the intersection with Av. Ricardo Palma, I take one of the many combos with the "S" on the windshield, for the price of S 3, which goes north. The journey takes about an hour. The combi leaves me in Av. Elmer Faucett, at 300 cmt. approximately from the arrivals hall of Jorge Chavez International Airport, located 20 km northwest of the tourist district of Miraflores in Lima.

PERU’ PART 2

There are countless agencies that offer the tourist bus to Puno at the price of 30 BOB. Departures are at 1.30pm and 6.30pm. This is also the safest and most comfortable solution to reach Puno in Peru also because the same awaits you during the operations to cross the easy border between Bolivia and Peru. Remember that you have to walk 300 meters. between the two borders and that it is more convenient to exchange money at the exchange on the Peruvian side.

This trip also offers enchanting landscapes. The bus arrives at the Puno Terrestrial Terminal, located about 1.5 km south of the center.

To reach the center you can either take the motor taxis stationed outside the terminal or you can take Via Tacna walking for about 400 meters. and from there stop one of the many Combi that continues to the center.

Puno can be easily explored on foot.

I sleep at the Inka's Rest hostel, located downtown in Pasaje S Carlos 158 in Puno for the price of 25 S per night including breakfast. Very comfortable and clean.

From the Inka's Rest hostel, located downtown in Pasaje S Carlos 158 in Puno, I walk for about 1 km to get to the port, where boats leave for some of the islands of Lake Titicaca.

I choose to visit the Islas Los Uros which are about 45 minutes by boat from Puno. The ferry leaves when it is full and is joined to arrive early in the morning as I did as it leaves when it is full of tourists and therefore difficult to fill up before nine in the morning. The ticket is made at the appropriate ticket office in the port and costs 10 S round trip as well as 5 S for the entrance to the Los Uros Islands, as well as 7 S for the transfer between a minor island and the capital with Islas Los Uros with a traditional boat.

The tour lasts half a day and allows you to have a unique experience on the floating islands inhabited by the locals who sell you their works of art.

Back at the Port of Puno I reach the Terrestrial Terminal on foot with a 15-minute walk, taking advantage of the beautiful lakefront.

From the Terrestrial Terminal there are several companies that offer almost every hour, for most of the day, trips of 6 hours to Cuzco for the price of 30 S, but the cheapest company (20 S) is Power which, however, makes many stops and therefore the journey, although comfortable because it is carried out with a double-decker bus, takes 8 hours.

The mandatory fee to be paid for the use of the Puno Terrestrial Terminal is 0.5 S. If you do not pay it, you cannot board any bus.

The Cusco land terminal is located about 2.5 km southeast of the city center. As written on a sign inside the terminal, in theory, a taxi ride to the center should cost 4 S, even though taxi drivers do everything to make tourists pay much more. In fact, mine asked me for 15 S to take me to Plaza San Francisco because it said it was 10pm and so there was a supplement. In the end, by bargaining, I gave him 10 S by sharing the cost with a German couple. Logically, for safety reasons, it is better to avoid buses and minibuses at least in the evening and only take official taxis with the sign with the telephone number on the roof as fake taxi drivers hide among others who then rob you.

In Cusco I sleep at the Pirwa Hostess, located in the very central Plaza S Francisco. A night in a dormitory, including free internet and breakfast, costs 20 S. The hostel in question is spotless, huge and very nice. Very friendly and helpful staff who also speak English.

Cusco is great on foot.

Minibuses to Ollantaytambo leave early in the morning until 11.00 pm from Calle Pavitos, just east of the intersection with Calle Lechugal, in Cusco, when they are full. The journey in the middle of the mountains offers enchanting landscapes, passing through the localities of Chinchero and Urabamba. The same takes about 1.5 hours and costs 10 S. Luggage is loaded on the roof. Minibuses run fast and are mostly used by locals. Few tourists who dare to take them. Of course, on the way you can get off when you want by asking the driver to stop. In Ollantaytambo you can get off at the Plaza de Armas or at the train station where trains leave for Machu Picchu.

The beautiful village of Ollantaytambo mt. 2,800, invaded by tourists from all over the world, can be easily explored on foot. The train station is located about 1km south of the center. From it there are tourist trains to Aguas Calientes (Machu Pichu) of 2 different companies: Inca rail and Peru Rail. While Inca Rail offers slightly cheaper fares (USD 114 round trip), Peru Rail has many more trains, some of which even reach Cusco. Logically there are the ticket offices of both companies near the train station but it is fair to reiterate that during the high season from June to September if you want to find a place on the train you must book either via the internet or through an agency at least 4 - 5 days in advance for do not risk staying on foot. Remember that there are many local trains that run this route every day at a cost of USD 6 round trip, but that foreigners cannot board these trains. The journey takes only an hour and 40 minutes and offers enchanting landscapes. On the train a drink and a snack is served, of course included in the price.

At the Aguas Calientes station an employee of the large Hospedaje Los Caminantes awaits me with a sign with my name on it to be recognized. I had booked by e_mail 2 weeks before. A single night costs only 20 S, without breakfast. It can be reached on foot in about 10 minutes.

Aguas Calientes mt. 2410 is a beautiful mountain village overrun by tourists and therefore full of hotels and restaurants. From the center depart from 5.30 in the morning until the afternoon, when they are full, the buses to Machu Picchu. The return ticket costs 54 S for tourists and 10 S for Peruvians and can be purchased at the ticket offices located adjacent to the bus stop in Via Hermanos Ayar. The 8 km uphill unpaved journey through the woods takes about half an hour.

Entrance to Machu Picchu costs about 40 S for locals and 124 S for foreigners. Logically the same can be purchased anywhere: in the ticket office of Machu Picchu, in Aguas Calientes, Ollantaytambo, Cuzco, Lima and via the internet. The only important thing to keep in mind is that the archaeological site in question contains a maximum of 2,500 people per day and therefore it is fair to reiterate that during the high season from June to September if you want to find a ticket you must book either via the internet or through agency at least 4 - 5 days in advance to avoid the risk of being left on foot.

The return to Cuzco takes place in the same way as the outward journey described above.

In Cusco I still sleep at the Pirwa Hostess, located in the very central Plaza S Francisco. A night in a dormitory including free internet and breakfast costs 20 S.

In the evening, I ask for a taxi from the aforementioned hostel at 5 in the morning to reach the Aeropuerto Internacional Alejandro Velasco Astete, located just 6 km southeast of the historic center of Cuzco. Fare 6 S.

There are 4 companies that hang out at this airport: Lan, Avianca, Star Peru and Peruvian Airlines. I chose the latter, the cheapest, to reach Lima for the price of $ 105, even if the minimum price is $ 50. This company operates the Cuzco - Lima route three times a day, but always with the same aircraft and in my case unfortunately it broke down and therefore I left 5 hours late. The journey takes just over an hour and offers enchanting landscapes.

How to get Iran Tourist Visa

The visa for Iran can also be obtained at the airport but sometimes the local authorities deny it without apparent reason and send you back home and therefore it is better to do it before leaving by following the following procedure:

go to the consulate of Iran, in Via Monte Bianco n. 57 in Milan, from Monday to Friday from 9 to 12.30, with passport (with expiry of not less than 6 months), insurance certificate (the one stipulated on the website www.viaggiaresicuri.com is fine), 2 recent passport photos, completed form , downloadable on the consulate's website (the addresses of the hotels where you will stay must be entered on the form).

After the kind employee (Gabriele) has checked the documentation, you have to fill in another form.

Then you have to pay 50 euros of fees by credit card, debit card or cash (in the latter case you must go to pay them in a bank indicated by the Consulate.

Once you have paid, if this is your first time, take 10 fingerprints.

Subsequently the employee hands you a sheet, with which there is written the date of collection of the passport with the visa which is usually ready after 3 or 4 working days. (in this period, in fact, the Consulate requests authorization from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran).

Anyone with the aforementioned sheet can collect their passport when it is ready.

Thailand report travel.

Bangkok, the capital of Thailand

Punctual as never before at 12.50 P.M. my Air Asia Company plane leaves for Bangkok (Thailand), (one-way price including taxes, with hand luggage only Euro 42.75).

I therefore arrive at 3.15 pm at Don Mueang Airport in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand (6 hours time zone, compared to Italy and 1 compared to Myanmar).

At Don Mueang International Airport in Bangkok, located about 25 km northwest of the city center, exchange money at a good exchange rate.

From Bangkok's Don Mueang International Airport, located about 25 km northwest of the city center, I walk for a few tens of meters to the main road where I take bus no. 29 which takes me in about 40 minutes to the Mo Chit BTS Skytrain Station, for the price of 15 Baht. I take the ticket on the bus from the Ticket Lady.

The cost of the Skytrain ticket varies according to the route traveled and can be obtained either at the special machines or at the Ticket Office.

With a change of train at Siam Station in about 30 minutes I arrive at Saphan Taksin Station, located a few tens of meters from Tha Sathorn Port, where I take an Orange Boat which, traveling north along the beautiful Mae Nam Chao Phraya River in About 30 minutes takes me to the Port of Tha Tien, a few hundred meters from the main entrance of the What Pho Temple. The ferry ticket costs 15 Baht and you can also do it on the ferry from the Lady Ticket Agent.

Entrance to the What Pho Temple costs 100 Baht and it closes at 18.30.

After visiting the center of Bangkok, I take the reverse route to Phaya Thai ARL Airport Rail Link Station where I take the ticket to Suvarnabhumi Airport for 45 Baht.

From Suvarnabhumi Airport I take the free shuttle that leaves every hour (at peak times every half hour) from 5.00 to 24.00 from gate 3 on the 2nd floor to Don Mueang Airport in Bangkok, located about 40 km west. The journey takes one hour and to get on you must show that you have the plane ticket.

Therefore I sleep at Don Mueang Airport in Bangkok, where there are chairs without armrests and therefore you sleep like God. Many people do the same.

Ayuthaya (Thailand)

At the Cambodian border, they take your fingerprints before giving you the exit stamp. Then you have to walk about 500 meters. before reaching the Thai one. Once we have passed the latter, a minibus takes us in front of a club, where after waiting an hour I take another minibus to Bangkok. Logically it's all included in the 10 USD I paid at The Boomerang Guest House. It takes you to the center or if you want you can drop off at Suvarnabhumi Airport. I choose this last solution. It is 13.00.

From Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok I take the Metro ARL Airport Rail Link to Phaya Thai Station of 45 Baht.

From Phaya Thai Station I take the Metro BTS Skytrain Sukhumvit Line and get off at Mo Chit Station. Price of 35 Baht.

From the Mo Chit metro station I take a Motortaxi which, at a price of 80 Baht, takes me in a few minutes to the Chatuchak Bus Terminal in Bangkok where I take a Minibus to Ayuthaya (departures every 20 ', cost 70 Baht). It also stops at Don Mueang Airport and takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes to reach the center of Ayuthaya.

In the center of Ayuthaya, rent a bicycle at a cost of 40 Baht per day, including padlock.

I visit Ayuthaya, a Unesco heritage site by bicycle. I also see elephants.

Admission to Wat Phra Si Sanphet costs 50 Baht.

From the Ayuthaya Main Bus Terminal, I take a Minibus to Don Mueang Airport in Bangkok (departures every 20 minutes, cost 60 Baht). The same takes about 1 hour to reach it.

From Don Mueang Airport in Bangkok, I take the free shuttle that leaves every hour (at peak times every half hour) from 5.00 to 24.00 outside the Arrivals Hall for Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok, located about 40 km east. The journey takes one hour and to get on you must show that you have the plane ticket.

TIMOR LESTE TRAVEL REPORT.

Punctual as never before, my Air Asia Company Airplane leaves from KKIA Terminal 2 in Kota Kinabalu (Malaysia) at 18.30 in the direction of Denpasar Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali, (one-way ticket price including taxes MYR 304).

Of course, on the plane they don't offer you anything to eat and drink.

I therefore arrive at 9.00 pm at Denpasar Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali (Indonesia).

To enter Indonesia, you need to fill out 1 form.

For Italian citizens, for tourism reasons up to 30 days it is not necessary to obtain a visa to enter Indonesia and therefore it is not necessary to pay any money. Then ignore the VISA Desk and go directly to the border post where you may be asked to show them your return flight ticket.

If, like me, you spend the night in the airport because you have a plane to another international destination the next morning, you must have a transit visa and therefore you must pay. I didn't know it and the officials at the time of leaving the country created some problems for me but in the end they turned a blind eye and I didn't pay anything.

Punctual as never before my Sriwijayaair Company Airplane departs from Denpasar Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali (Indonesia) at 9.55 am in the direction of Dili International Airport in Timor Leste, (round trip ticket price including taxes IDR 2,950,000).

The aforementioned route is also covered by the Citilink Company with similar timetables. The trip takes less than 2 hours.

On the plane they offer you lunch.

To enter Timor Leste, you need to fill in 2 forms.

For Italian citizens, for tourism reasons up to 60 days it is not necessary to obtain a visa to enter Timor Leste and therefore it is not necessary to pay any money. Then ignore the VISA Desk and go directly to the border post where you may be asked to show them your return flight ticket.

The currency of Timor Leste is the US dollar.

Presidente Nicolau Lobato International Airport is located just 6 km west of the center of Dili, the capital of Timor Leste. A taxi to the city center costs around 10 USD, but having booked 2 nights at the Dili Beach Hotel, they picked me up.

The Dili Beach Hotel, booked through Hostelword, located in Pantai Kelapa, Beach Road, facing the ocean, 1 km west of the center of Dili, capital of Timor Leste, costs 20 $ per day in a mixed dormitory, including swimming pool and breakfast.

In Dili I know an Indonesian Entrepreneur who lends me his bicycle with which I visit Timor Leste.

At Dili Airport, before crossing the border and leaving Timor Leste, it is necessary to pay the $ 10 fee.

NEW YORK (UNITED STATES) REPORT TRAVEL.

Punctual as never before, my United Company Airplane departs from Milan Malpensa at 10.10 in the direction of the Newark Liberty International Airport (USA), (multi-route ticket price including taxes from Malpensa to Panama City and from Mexico City to Malpensa with a stopover Newark: Euro 669.75).

The plane is full.

I therefore arrive at 13.40, with a bearable cold at the Newark Liberty International Airport (USA).

The airport consists of 3 terminals connected to each other by a free train.

The cheapest way to reach the center of New York from Newark Liberty International Airport (USA) is to take the bus. n. 62 or with other numbers (ask the driver), which stop every 10/15 minutes in front of the 3 arrivals halls of all 3 terminals and take you making several stops in just 20 minutes to Penn Station in Newark. The ticket costs 1.5 USD and is paid directly to the driver.

From Penn Station in Newark, trains run by the NJ Transit company depart every half hour for New York's Penn Station. The ticket costs $ 5 one way, $ 10 return and does not need to be stamped before boarding the train. The journey makes only one intermediate stop and lasts less than half an hour.

From Penn Station in New York, you can take the Subway to reach any part of New York. It is open 24 hours a day. The single fare is $ 2.70. If you use it a lot you can take the rechargeable Metrocard that can also be used on the buses that allows you to save a little or the Unlimited ride Metrocard that at a cost of $ 35 allows you to make all the rides you want for 7 days. Remember that there are no fare zones in New York.

If you have little money and little time, keep in mind that you can see the Statue of Liberty without going through the exhausting queues and checks by taking the free ferry that leaves every half hour from Governor's Island Ferry Station (near South Ferry Metro Station) , for Staten Island, passing a few tens of meters from Liberty Island, thus offering a wonderful view of the Statue of Liberty.

Back at Newark Liberty International Airport (USA), I spend the night in the warm terminal with the same modes of transport as the outward journey.
