FIJI TRAVEL REPORT

  

At the International Terminal of Bauerfield Airport in Port Vila (Vanuatu), at the check-in desk of the FIJI AIRWAYS Company, for the flight to Nadi, they asked me to show them the Airline booking attesting to the exit from Fiji.

Keep in mind that all budget hotels are located in the new city, located just behind the landing strip of the International Airport.

The old town of Nadi is good for walking and appears quite safe during the day. After sunset, take a taxi.

 

To go anywhere in the country you need to go to the Bus Station located in the center of the Old City of Nadi.

 

Keep in mind that to go from the New Town to the Old Town of Nadi it is necessary to take a minibus that runs every half hour from 7 in the morning until 17.00, every day except Sundays and holidays. Cost of the ride: 1 F $.

 

On Sunday you have to walk for about 2 and a half kilometers (or take a taxi) until you reach Queens Road and wait for any bus coming from Lautoka and going to the Nadi Bus Station. Cost of 0.66 F $. You need the rechargeable card to pay for it. I didn't have one but they let me on anyway and I paid in cash.

 

From the Nadi Bus Station, every day including holidays, numerous buses leave for the capital Suva, of different companies that stop after 1 hour also in Sigatoka (from 5 to 7 F $).

 

Sigatoka, you can get around well on foot.

 

From Sigatoka I took a taxi for F $ 5 to reach the Dune Park.

 

You can visit the park of the dunes by yourself. There are 2 routes. 1 hour and 2 hours. The cost of the ticket is 10 F $.

 

From Sigatoka Dunes Park I took a taxi to Tavuni Hill Fort for 12F $. Journey time: 30 minutes.

 

Entry to Tavuni Hill Fort costs F $ 20.

 

Taxi from Tavuni Hill Fort to Sigatoka Bus Station costs 7 F $.

 

Back in Nadi, keep in mind that the Old City is good for walking.

 

From the Nadi Bus Station, every day including holidays, buses leave every 15 minutes, from sunrise to sunset, for Lautoka. Trip duration: 1 hour scarce. Cost of 1.55 F $. You need the rechargeable card to pay for it. I didn't have one but they let me on anyway and I paid in cash.

 

Lautoka turns well on foot.

 

From Bamboo Beach, located in the New Town of Nadi, I took a taxi at 4.00 am to reach the International Airport. Cost of the ride: 13 F $.

 

To leave Fiji it is necessary to present the completed form to the Airport Authorities. The exit stamp is not issued.
